Scott Rogers Speaks At Parent Coffee

On September 2, 2008, as the new school year began, Scott Rogers spoke to 75 parents at Miami Country Day School in Miami Florida.   The "Parent Coffee" took place from 8:15 to 10:00 am.  Scott shared with parents an introduction to mindfulness, discussion on neuroscience and the power of mindful awareness to transform undesirable patterns of reactivity, and exercises to help awaken us to the present moment -- the place we are most genuine, less distracted and reactive, and are able to offer the most to ourselves and our children.

New Mindful Parenting Workshop to Begin in October
The Institute for Mindfulness Studies will begin to conduct workshops for parents titled "Embracing what is Apparent."  The word play serves as a reminder that as "a parent" it is easy to forget what is really taking place right before one's eyes.  The workshop, which will be conducted every two months alternating between the Institute's new office on 800 West Avenue in Miami Beach and its present location at 1090 Kane Concourse will be open to 10 parents.

Parents will develop a better understanding of what mindfulness and how learning to cultivate states of mindful awareness can bring greater clarity of mind and ease of heart to everyday moments.  Scott will share mindful parenting techniques developed by the Institute that incorporate one's child to help parents remember to "wake up" and embrace the moment, and exercises that help parents to disrupt old patterns of behavior that time and again prove less than fulfilling.

You can learn more by contacting the Institute for Mindfulness Studies at 786-239-9318.
